Happy Birthday Han Solo!!!!

Today is the big day:  Han Solo turns 1!  Can you believe it's already been a year?  It seems like just yesterday he was a teeny little baby just coming into the world.
Today I took the last of the "incredibly shrinking bear" photos.  This was the hardest one because he's so busy it was hard to get him to sit still for the photo.  I took 47 photos and got 4 where he was sitting still.  Whew!

If you missed the other monthly photos you can see them here.  It's amazing the difference from month to month.

Happy birthday my sweet baby.

RTT: Anniversaries and DWTS

RTT! RTT! RTT!

Stacy

Let's not chat. Let's just do this.

*Today is the first day of spring. It has started warming up in Germany. For me this means I will soon be holed up inside my house, high on allergy meds with swollen eyes, a drippy nose (bonus, it will also be red and raw from all the wiping and blowing), and screeching like a banshee every time someone opens a door too long because they will be letting the evil pollen in. Don't you envy my family? James Bond is a lucky, lucky man.

*Speaking of James Bond, Sunday was our 17th anniversary. Yep, 17 years and I haven't killed him yet. Or he me. Though if he were to kill me, I'm pretty sure no one would ever find the body and thanks to my allergy issues, no one would likely miss me for months and months. I'm just sayin. Wow, that went off on a tangent.

*The army apparently hates our anniversary. How do I know? Because they keep sending JB away so that we cannot spend it together. We've now been apart 9 out of 17 anniversaries (and he wasn't even in the army for our 1st). He will be gone for number 18 too. I suppose I should be glad that he didn't actually leave until the morning of this anniversary, so I at least got to see him for about an hour. I suppose we could have seen each other longer if we'd gotten up earlier, but um, sleep! Hello? After having kids I have learned the value of sleep.

*Speaking of anniversaries, tomorrow is James Bond's Army-versary. He will be in for 16 year! Holy cow!

*Apparently Hong Kong has the most Rolls Royce's per capita. Perhaps I should move there.

*Indy is so into Dancing with the Stars. He's pulling for Sherri Shepard because he knows her from The View. That's right, Indy watches The View.

*Jack Wagner is still kind of hot. From a distance. Close up HD does nothing for him.

*The first coast-to-coast telephone line was established in 1914. Just thought you should know.

*Indy is in to pretty much ALL competition reality shows. His favs are America's Got Talent and The Amazing Race. He was sooo excited that AR was in Germany this week. He got quite upset that they didn't really understand much German and didn't know that Neuschwanstein was the "Cinderella" castle. He rolled his eyes and said "Everybody knows that!" He was practically jumping up and down when they were actually AT Neuschwanstein. He kept yelling "I've been there! I stood right there! I walked up that road!" It was pretty cute.

*Sherri Shepard is hilarious. She was so funny in One for the Money. If you haven't seen that, you should.

*I read that elephants are the only animals that can't jump.  Think that's true?

*Sometimes I'm doing something on my laptop, I hit the mousepad the wrong way and my view starts zooming in or out and I have NO IDEA how I did it, so fixing it is a PITA.  I can do it accidentally, but when I TRY to do it, no dice.

*Melissa Gilbert.  How much did every kid in the late 70's/early 80's love Little House on the Prairie?

*Han Solo loves to "dance."  Last night we were dancing around the living room and he was laughing so hard I thought he was going to lose his dinner.  It didn't help that Indy was also dancing around (that's a sight to see) singing "Go [Han Solo], go [Han Solo], go [Han Solo], get you're groove on, uh-huh, get your groove on, shake your money maker, get your groove on."  Clearly we have problems.

*Apparently the US spends $203 million dollars a year on barbed wire.  I can believe that.  I think half the money is spent on all the barbed wire that surrounds the building where James Bond works.  It's a scary looking building.  What does he do?  I'm not entirely sure, to be honest.  Weird, eh?

*How hot is William Levy????  Let me give you a little eye candy:

You want to watch DWTS now, don't you?

*Dear lord.  Literally:

RTT: Growing baby, time wasters and other nonsense

Stacy

Wheeeeeeee! It's RTT! Look at that, I made a rhyme!  Sit back and enjoy.

*Stacy's been holding down the RTT fort for so long, I think it's just permanent.   Accept it Stacy!

*Indy told me the other day that he wants a shirt that reads "I love Latin!" in Latin. Sigh.

*Thank you ABC for allowing your programs to air directly in hulu.com (so I can get my Castle fix).  CBS, I'd like it if you took a page from ABC's book.  Your programs through hulu are linked directly to cbs.com and they "aren't authorized in [my] country."  Boo, CBS.  Boo.

*Six months ago, my RTT was about how I'd had Han Solo the day before (that's right, I'm so dedicated to RTT, not even childbirth could keep me away). Today my sweet little man is 6 months old! How did that happen?

*Every month (on the 4th) I take a photo of Han Solo with the Teddy Bear Indy gave him on the day he was born. Here are his birthday photos (I wish I'd thought to take one without the blanket on) and this month's photos:

He's grown quite a bit.  Maybe on his first birthday I'll post the entire series.

*Still no official paper orders from the Army yet.  We're supposed to move in 16 days and without orders in hand we can't do anything, except sit here and wait.

*I've found a new favorite time wasting site. Humorgasms.com *Warning!  Do not go there if you're easily offended.  Here's just a small sampling (of the ones that don't have curse words in the caption-I don't want to offend anyone for now)

Work it girl!

Who thought this up?

And seriously, WHO thought this was a good idea? Look closely, it's not what you think.

*Oh, oh, and Bluntcard.com!  I love this site so much it hurts.  *Again, don't go there if you're easily offended.
Here are a few of my favorites.  Well, actually some of my favorites are not really appropriate to post here, but these are pretty darn good too.

*What's up with Blogger today?  I can't post photos from the Compose page, but I can from the Edit HTML page.  Get it together Blogger!

*Okay, I think I'm done.  No wait!  I haven't posted my funny sign!

Not a "show" I want to see:

*Click the button above to read the other randoms and link your own.

PS.  Dear other RTTers,
I know I've been slacking on the commenting lately, but I have actually read your RTT's.  I promise to try to do better on commenting, cause some of your RTT's are awesome.

RTT: Meetings

Stacy

James Bond did not know today was Tuesday. We actually argued about it until I reminded him of what he told me he did yesterday at work. Read on:

*James Bond has a...job. I have a very vague idea of what the job is (I obviously know he's in the intel field), but what he does specifically, I have no idea (isn't that weird?). We're not allowed to talk about it, so....we don't. Most of our conversations go something like this:

Me: How was your day?
JB: Fine.
Me: Do anything exciting?
JB: Yep.
Me:  Can you tell me about it?
JB:  Nope.

And that's the end of the conversation. Exciting, right? Yeah, I know, be jealous. One thing I know he does is attend meetings. I swear it is a freaking miracle that the army gets anything done because they are always in meetings (2-4 a day for JB).  He does on occasion tell me that he had a meeting.  I always ask what the meeting was about (thinking he might slip up and tell me-ha!) and he usually says something crazy exciting like "stuff."  Oooooh, stuff?    You don't say?  Anyhoo, yesterday he told me had a meeting and once again I asked what it was about (More stuff?  I'd like to hear about that).  He surprised me and actually gave me a different answer!  What to know what the meeting was about?  It was about a meeting they were having today.  You read that right.  They were meeting to discuss a meeting they were having the next day.  WTF?  I asked JB if this was common and he said that sadly it was.  I asked him what the most bizarre or pointless meeting he'd ever attended was.  He thought about it for a minute and then told me he once to go to a meeting about how to properly hold a meeting.   This is why men should not be in charge.

*Han Solo can sleep through freaking anything, the dogs barking (a frequent occurrence), TV shows, Indy acting like a fool, seriously, anything, except a creaky floorboard.   He can be sound asleep, but the minute he hears a floorboard, his little eyes pop wide open.  Our entire bedroom is creaky floorboards!  You should see JB and I creeping into our room.  It's pretty comical.  And sad.

*We're supposed to move in 31 day.  We can't do anything (and believe me, for even a short move like this will be, there's tons of crap to do) until JB gets orders (official paperwork that says where we're moving, when we're moving, etc, etc).  31 days out and still no orders.  This means we'll be running around like crazy people when they finally do come in.  Sigh.

*So, the season premier of Castle (SQUEEEE!!!) was last night.   AFN (American Forces Network) won't air it until tonight (though that's a HUGE improvement from being a season or two behind like we used to be).  I couldn't wait to watch, so I watched it on hulu.com today (shhhhhhh, don't tell JB).  It was awesome.  Hulu has commercials though (I don't miss them).  I did laugh at the Jimmy Dean commercial with the guys as the sun (you know what I'm talking about?).  Another commercial really caught my attention though.  It was from Lowe's.  You've probably seen it before, but if not, watch this.  It's only 15 seconds, but cute as can be.

See, wasn't that worth it?

*You know I'm still completely confused by the fact that Robbie Williams is not all that popular in the States (WTH, people?).  This is (IM-not so-HO) this is hands down his best song ever.  Watch the video.  Seriously.

*Do you ever get tired of everything being PC?  I sure do.  I get tired of remembering what I'm not allowed to say or what I'm supposed to say instead of something else.  It's exhausting and taxes my brain.  Sometimes I just want to be completely un-PC.

*Some days I get tired of women's lib.  They ruined some really good stuff.  Listen up all two of my male readers:  if you want to open a door for me, I will not give you a snide look and tell you I can damn well open the door myself.  I will thank you for your politeness (something that seems to have gone by the wayside).

*Finally:

Where I've been-sick, sick Han Solo, and learning German for icky things

Hello gentle readers. I'll bet you've been wondering where I've been. Sadly, I was not off on some fabulous trip with my beloved Johnny Depp. I was in the hospital with my sweet little Han Solo. He's home now and doing much better though, so fear not.
About 2 weeks ago (now) he developed a terrible cough that ended all the wonderful sleeping through the night he was doing (BOO!). It got worse and worse (seriously, he'd cough for an hour at a time) and then he started having diarrhea. Holy crap (literally). On Thursday (after the Mon the coughing stated), I took him to the peds, but all the peds were booked, so we had to see a Nurse Practitioner, who Indy had seen in the past, and of whom we were not fond. She told us it was nothing and treated my like an overwrought first time mom (despite the fact that I've managed to get Indy to the age of 9). She told us to go home and it would all go away.
Friday night, the vomiting started. It was not good. Sat morning, I decided we were going to the doc again. I had to get authorization to take him to the local Kinderklinik (pediatric hospital) and after speaking to the on call nurse for less than 10 minutes I was told to take him in immediately.
We arrived at the Kinderklinik and were taken straight back (German hospitals are freaking amazing that way-check in and straight to the back you go). The doc came in less than 5 minutes later and asked me some questions and checked him out. She said he needed to be admitted and needed an IV right away. In his head. WHAT??  I have to say, he took the IV far better than I did (I started crying before they even got the needle out of the package).  He didn't cry over the needle (didn't even flinch when it went in), but was pissed to no end that they were holding his head still.  BTW, the doctor put the IV in and drew his blood.  She then took the blood back to the lab, ran the tests herself and came back in less than 20 minutes to tell me his blood work was fine.  Impressive.  I called James Bond weeping and he and Indy hopped in the car and headed to the hospital.
We were put on the infectious ward in a multi-person room.   We were more than willing to pay extra for a private room (like we had when he was born), but they don't have them.  It seems counterproductive to put a bunch of sick kids in a room together, doesn't it?  I got a crash course in the names for disgusting bodily functions in German.  Most of the nurses spoke English, but I made a point to find out what the specific words were so I could communicate with the ones who didn't.  Some things sound far better in German than they do in English.
The first night, we had only one roommate, a 6 year old girl, who was turning 7 the next day.  Han Solo got IV fluids all night, and woke up coughing several times.  My poor little man.  He took it all in stride and smiled and charmed the nurses with his pretty blue eyes and sweet nature.
Our roommate actually got to go home on her birthday, which made me happy because her family was LOUD.  Crazy loud.  We enjoyed several hours of silence before another baby (13 months) was brought in.  She had symptoms almost identical to Han Solo's.  Her mom was Chinese and the dad German.  The dad was in Japan filming a documentary on the recovery from the earthquake and couldn't get home.  She was a first time mom and a nervous wreck.  Between my broken German and her broken English (though it was admittedly better than my German), we managed to communicate fairly well.  The docs took Han Solo's IV out and told me I had to push fluids all night.  Both kids were mercifully asleep when at midnight we got another roommate (12 months).  The mom was ridiculously loud and very, very annoying.  She made noise until nearly 2am and kept slipping out to smoke!  She left her sick baby in the room alone (besides us of course) and went out for 30 minutes to smoke.  Good grief.  Her baby was grossly overweight and I didn't wonder why since the mom kept filling her bottle with orange soda.   Granted German orange soda is not the neon orange that American orange soda is and actually has some orange juice in it, but honestly.  I never saw this kid drink anything else.  We got almost no sleep that night because the mom kept getting up and making noise and waking up the babies.  I wanted to beat her.
The next morning I was exhausted beyond reason and so was Han Solo.  He was awoken almost every hour during the night.  The docs came in to check on him and I told them we were going home.  He was no longer on IV fluids and the only medication he was getting was a nebulizer, which I happen to have at home.  All I needed was the medicine and I could do those.  The young doctor was reluctant, but I told him, Han Solo would recover better when he could sleep.  The chief doctor came in a bit later and said it was fine for us to go home as long as we continued the breathing treatments.  We had to wait for his discharge papers, but as soon as we had them in hand, we were out the door.  When we got home, he went down for a nap and slept for 5 straight hours.
He's doing much better now, though still has Husten and occasional  Durchfall (look it up).  It's time for a breathing treatment, so I'd better go.  I just didn't want you to think I'd fallen off the edge of the earth (or been whisked away by my beloved Johnny to a private island).

My night and morning: a timeline

You may remember that I mentioned in yesterday's post that Han Solo has rotavirus. Good grief. Indy had it when he was almost 2 and it was even more awful because he was eating solid foods and mobile. I'm extremely grateful that Han Solo is still just on liquids and cannot move around. I know it could be so much worse.   He's actually taking it quite well (as did Indy) and not fussing.   My nights have been rough lately, but not really because of Han Solo.  Here's how last night went:

8pm: Give Han Solo a bath. Indy takes a shower while Han Solo is bathed, chattering the whole time about his day. Asks if I can read to him.

8:15pm: Feed Han Solo a bottle while reading to Indy (I'm a multitasker).  James Bond cleans up bathroom.

8:30pm: James Bond puts Indy to bed. Indy yells that I need to come kiss him when Han Solo is down.

8:45pm: Han Solo goes to bed (quietly and happily) . Go tuck Indy in. Has to talk about his day for a few more minutes..

9pm: All is quiet. James Bond goes to his man cave for...whatever.  Have time to read my own book.

10:15pm: Go to bed. Han Solo sleeps in our room next to my side of the bed.  Creep in quietly praying he doesn't wake up.  He doesn't.  Give silent hurrah.  Fall asleep.

11pm: Woken up by the dog whining and crying to get in the bedroom with me. Don't let them in.  They take forever to settle and will only cause a ruckus when James Bond gets them up to go outside and they might wake Han Solo.  Go back to sleep.

12:15am: Woken up when James Bond takes the dogs out.

12:25am: Dogs storm into the house like a pack of elephants. Pray fervently they don't wake Han Solo. Fortunately, they don't. Let out a sigh of relief.

12:30am: James Bond comes to bed. Floors creak. Han Solo moves around. Hold my breath, but he doesn't wake.  Sigh in relief.  Go back to sleep.

1:30am: Han Solo wakes up and babbles quite loudly for about 15 minutes. Lay there wondering if he'll go back to sleep. Babbling turns into fussing. Get up. It's rare he's up at this hour, but he's not feeling well.

1:45am: Change a ridiculously stinky diaper. Curse rotavirus for a few minutes. Make a bottle and feed Han Solo. James Bond sleeps through this.

2am: Start to put Han Solo back to bed and notice he is smelly again! Change another stinky diaper. Curse rotavirus for a few more minutes, put Han Solo back to bed (he's instantly asleep, bless him), crawl back in bed.

3:20am: Dogs start barking for no apparent reason, scaring the beejeebers out of me. Shush them. James Bond doesn't wake. Han Solo sleeps through this (dogs barking don't seem to bother him). Go back to sleep.

4:45am: Han Solo starts shifting around. I check on him and he smells suspicious. He doesn't wake up though and consider whether or not to wake him up to change his diaper. Decide to let him sleep. A little poo in his diaper won't hurt anything but my olfactory senses. Go back to sleep.

5:45am: James Bond's alarm goes off. Smack him on the shoulder a few times to wake him up so he'll turn it off. Han Solo is never bothered by the alarm (though I don't know how as it's crazy loud), so he continues to sleep. James Bond gets out of bed, walks across the room, hits snooze button gets back in bed and instantly goes back to sleep. Lay there waiting for the alarm to go off again. Think bad thoughts about James Bond.

5:54am: Alarm goes off again. Smack James Bond some more to turn off alarm. He turns it off and gets up to get dressed for PT. Fall asleep.

6:20am: James Bond comes in to kiss me goodbye, but I'm asleep so his hovering over me scares me half to death and I let out a scream. Han Solo stays asleep. James Bond leaves. Once my heart stops thumping I fall back asleep.

7:30am: Indy creeps into room quietly, wakes me and asks if he can get up. Nod that he can.  He goes to play in his room. Wonder briefly why he walks all the way to my room to ask if he can get up. Decide I'm too tired to care.  Check Han Solo. He's still smelly, but asleep. Go back to sleep.

7:45am: James Bond comes back from PT and dogs bark. Shush them rather violently. Han Solo still sleeps. James Bond crawls back in bed and falls instantly asleep. Lay there thinking I should get up. Decide not to and go back to sleep.

8:40am: Han Solo is babbling. Wake up and realize what time it is. Smack James Bond. He's supposed to be at work at 9. Get Han Solo up, change a stinky diaper and make his bottle. Indy comes out and makes his own breakfast (sweet, sweet boy). James Bond runs around the house like a mad man trying to get himself together.

8:50am: James Bond runs out the door. Han Solo stinks again! Change his diaper, wash my hands and make a cup of tea.

9am: Jump in the shower.

9:10am: Get dressed.

9:15am: Start school.

Is it any wonder I'm tired all the freaking time???? Han Solo slept through the night (8:30pm to 8am) for about 2 weeks and it was sheer bliss, but since he's been sick he's back to waking up at night and I'm delirious.   James Bond and the dogs don't help with my sleep issues.  Pray. for. me.

Christening!

Han Solo officially received guilt yesterday. By that I mean he became Catholic. :) We had a private Christening in a side chapel of the Heidelberg Mark Twain Village chapel. It was short and sweet and ridiculously hot. Han Solo was awesome. He fussed while I was putting his gown on him and cried a little, but then promptly fell asleep and stayed asleep for the entire thing. Huzzah!   His gown looked fabulous on him, but it's a little large, so we're going to wait a few weeks to get his photos taken in it.  He's been smiling more and more, so I'm hoping to get a good photo of him in the gown smiling.  Here are some photos from yesterday:

Me and the man of the hour.  Notice my fascinator???  That's right, I'm bringing hats and hair pieces back!

Getting ready to get a holy water shampoo.

With his awesome godparents JAG and Hoosier Mom:

Our sweet little family:

My little man!  Isn't he precious?

We had people back to our house afterward for cake and punch and Han Solo slept almost the entire time.  He's a real party animal, that one.  Best of all though, a true miracle occurred last night.  He slept 7 straight hours!!!  If I'd known that was going to happen, I'd have gotten him Christened weeks ago!

The sweetest gift

One Sunday every May, a day is set aside to honor moms and today, I was honored.  I didn't want anything for Mother's Day except to be able to sleep.  :)  James Bond got up with Han Solo this morning and I slept in until 11:30, when they came in bearing breakfast.  Indy insisted I needed breakfast in bed.  While I was eating, I was presented with the sweetest card.  Apparently Indy and James Bond collaborated to write some poetry (Indy told James Bond stuff he'd like to say and JB put it in poetry form).  They printed the poems out on a card with a photo of both Indy and Han Solo.  I cried when I read it.  James Bond said he's not much of a poet, but I think you'll agree that he did a marvelous job writing 2 poems, one from each of the boys.

You're there when I've fallen
You're there when I'm sad
Your hugs are like magic
When my days have gone bad

No matter how big
Or grown up I may be
I'm forever your son
So you can hug me

Love, [Indy]

I know that I'm little
But my eyes they do see
The most beautiful angel
That firmly holds me

With my life I do trust
My future unseen
My love is forever yours
In my crib as I dream

Love, [Han Solo]

I hope you all have a lovely Mother's Day.

Slacker Blogger

Let me blow the dust off my keyboard. Whew! That's better. I've been a slacker lately when it comes to my blog and I know it. To my faithful readers, I sincerely apologize. I'm really struggling right now with what write on my blog. I don't want to make it all about the baby, but right now, that's what my life seems to revolve around. My days are a blur of feedings, changing diapers, schooling Indy (who's enjoying the slackness at school) and trying to sleep.
Han Solo is now a month old! Can you believe it? I sure can't. He's roughly 6 pounds now!  I KNOW!  The night before last, I finally got him to sleep in his crib!  Halleluiah!  Up until then, he had been sleeping next to me in our bed because that was the ONLY place he would sleep.  I was dozing, but not sleeping deeply and for a few days thought I was going to lose my mind (what little is left).  The other night though, I thought I'd try the whole swaddle thing again (he did NOT like it when we tried it before), and he was okay with it.  I fed him, swaddled him, shushed him and very, very, very carefully laid him in his crib and he stayed asleep.  I crawled into bed (his crib is right next to the bed) and slept hard for almost 4 straight hours!   Huzzah!  I fed him when he woke, swaddled and shushed him again and guess what???  He slept for 4 more hours!!  I swear I could hear a choir of angels singing.  He did the same thing last night.  I can't tell you how much better I feel getting actual sleep.  I even dreamed!!!  Yes!  Cross your fingers this continues.

Last week Indy earned his Bear Badge in Cub Scouts.  This means he'll be a WEBLOS scout next year!  He's worked very hard this year and still loves scouting.  He also earned so many belt loops (achievement things) that his scout master didn't even bother to read the entire list (it took a page and a half to list them), but told the pack that Indy would look like a Spanish general when he got them all on his belt.  That's my boy.

Look how many are in the bag:

I guess this qualifies as our first family photo:

Back when Indy was a baby I bought him a bear wearing BDU's (Battle Dress Uniform) and we put the uniform on him for photos with James Bond.  Look how cute:

Well, now the Army wears ACU's (Army Combat Uniform), so we had to buy a new bear for Han Solo.  He wouldn't put up with the beret though.  Here he is with James Bond:

Aren't those cute????   You'll notice both boys look thrilled to pieces.

On his one month birthday, we took his photo with the bear Indy gave him when he was born.  We'll do this every month (hopefully I'll remember-I forgot a few months when I did this with Indy) to show how much he's grown.  This is a 9" bear.

So, that's what's going on in my world.  Hopefully things will get a bit more normal and I'll have more to blog about soon.  We're thinking of going to England for several days once Han Solo's passport comes in, so that should give me loads of blog fodder.    Until then though, I'll definitely keep up with RTT, because I've ALWAYS got random thoughts.

Loving the second child

Warning:  I'm hormonal, so this is slightly more mushy and slightly less sarcastic than my normal posts.  Fear not though, I'll be back to form soon.

From the moment we found out I was pregnant with him early in 2002, Indy has been the center of our universe. His birth was much anticipated, especially by my parents as he would be their first and only grandchild as I have no siblings. His early entrance to the world was much celebrated and James Bond and I were immediately and deeply in love with the super tiny little bundle, who would change our world so completely. For 8 years we've watched him grow and delighted in every first and marked every milestone. Since we homeschool, Indy and I are pretty much always together and are very close (not Norman Bates close, but close).  We have a great time together and talk about anything and everything.  He amazes me on a daily basis.
When we found out I was pregnant with Han Solo, we were excited (one the shock and the "how did this happen?" wore off), but wondered how we could possibly love another child as much as we loved Indy.  For months this was a real concern.  There was even an entire thread on my babycenter.com birth board, from parents of other older onlies.  It was good to know that we werent' alone in our fears, but it didn't do anything to make them any better.
We also worried about how Indy would take having another child get our affection.  He had been an only child for 8 years and was used to getting all our attention.  He had wanted a baby brother (and would "even take a sister") since he could say the word "baby" and even said one year that he would tell Santa he didn't need any toys if Santa would just bring him a baby.  Wanting a sibling and actually having one are two different things though.
Two nights before Han Solo made his big arrival, James Bond and I once again talked about how worried we were that we wouldn't be able to love Han Solo as much as we did Indy.  We both felt horrible and guilty for this, but didn't know how we would love him as much.  It's hard to imagine loving anyone, even another child of yours, as much as you do the first.  Would Han Solo feel less loved?  We certainly didn't want him to, but couldn't see how it wasn't going to happen.  I went to bed at night pondering this.
At 10:33 am on April 4th though, all those worries vanished.  From the second we saw Han Solo, it was instant love.  Love at first sight.  Miraculously (much like the Grinch, whose heart grew 3 sizes that day), my heart had enough room to love both boys and so did James Bond's.  I didn't feel more or less love for one boy than the other, I just loved them both with my whole heart.  Han Solo is only 10 days old, but we already can't imagine life without him.  James Bond and I laughed over our silly fears last night.  Was it really less than 2 weeks ago we worried about not loving him enough?   The amazing thing about being a parent is that you really do have enough love to give all of your children.  Of course Indy will always be special because he was the first, but Han Solo is just as special in his own way.  He's our late 30's baby.  The one who will keep us young and exhaust us in a way Indy didn't.  I can't wait to see where the days and years lead us.

Indy is so over the moon in love with Han Solo, it only makes me love him even more.   Look at my boys.  How could I not adore them both?

Are you ready for the cute????

Warning! Photo heavy, but I'm a new mom, so what did you expect?

Indy is a proud big brother!  He says Han Solo has his "good looks."  That's my boy.  So humble.

CUTE!!!

Look at those pretty eyes.

James Bond has yet to take a photo of me where I don't look crazy or have my head cut off.  We must remedy that.  BTW, if you'll notice, we all 3 have the same nose.

Look how tiny his little fingers are!

This is James Bond's favorite photo.  We call it his pirate face.  Yarrrrrhhhh!

This is a standard newborn pacifier.  I put it next to him for size comparision.

Lock up your girls.  I now have 2 boys with killer baby blues.

Hope you enjoyed the cute.  We're probably going to be in the hospital until at least Friday.  He's dropped down to 5lbs (which is more than 10% of his body weight) and still having trouble regulating his body temp, but hey think he should be able to go home on Friday or Saturday.  We'll see.  Have a great day and try not let the sweetness of the photos give you a cavity.

RTT: Special Delivery Edition

Tuesday, already??? How did that happen? I'm rebeling up with Stacy again, since Keely is STILL putting RTT on hiatus.
Soooooo, guess what random thing happened to me yesterday? I HAD A BABY!!! That's right, Han Solo made his grand entrance on April 4 at 10:33am after 20 hours of very hard labor, weighing 5 pounds 6 ounces and 19" long. He's tiny and perfect and adorable (he looks like me, so what do you expect?) and quite likable, really. This is important.  Some babies aren't likable, but he is.  I could be biased, but I think not.  Here are some random thoughts/happenings from yesterday:

*I am freaking awesome.  What?  You push out a baby and tell me you don't think you're awesome.

*Labor sucks. There are no 2 ways about it. Labor is just awful.

*Telling yourself it's not so bad and that the pain is all in your head is a big fat lie.  It hurts like a beeyotch.

*The person who invented the epidural should have been given a gazillion dollars.  His photo should be on all the money in the entire world and every town should have a statue of him.  I'm just sayin'.

*Having a baby in a German hospital is a very different experience from having on in an American hospital.  In a good way.  The Germans were very touchy-feely instead of clinical.  It felt much more...family orientated.  You know, if your family includes an OB, a midwife, and a midwife assistant and they all stand around looking at your business.

*German women labor naked.  I did not.

*James Bond nearly passed out several times.  Of course he's been through delivery with me before, but at American hospitals, they kind of cover everything up.  Not so much over here.  The first time he nearly lost it was when he saw the needle for the epidural.  He was with me when I got it for Indy, but didn't see it.  This time, he did and he went quite pale and his legs nearly gave out.  Another time was when he was trying to match my breathing during a contraction.  He got light headed. I told him to stop and he said he couldn't help it.  I laughed and said if he hit the floor, he'd just have to stay there because I was busy.  And then during the pushing phase, he said he was pushing right along with me and almost hit the floor.

*James Bond was pretty awesome himself during the whole labor process.  Not as awesome as me, but still.  He rubbed my back and my feet and in my book, that is super awesome.

*During the earlier parts of labor James Bond and I walked the halls of the hospital to keep the contractions going (after 10 hours, no way was I going to let them stop).  The hospital is built around a courtyard, so the halls make a big square.  We walked and walked and walked.  At some point, I began softly sing  the song "I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more..."  At 3 am, this was freaking hilarious.   By 5am, I really felt like I had walked 500 miles.  All in a square.

*After giving birth, I was brought a bottle of champagne, compliments of the hospital.  Germany is AWESOME.
*Indy thinks Han Solo is perfect.  He's right of course.  He came to see him for the first time yesterday afternoon and was thrilled to get to hold him.  Indy says he's the perfect baby brother.  We'll see how long tht lasts.

*No silly photos today, just a whole bunch of cute:

These photos were taken right after he was born, so he's still covered in goo.  Once I pry the camera out of James Bond's hands and can download non-goo photos I'll post more.  I took some great shots of him and Indy yesterday, but James Bond ran off with the camera before I could download them.  Darn it.

So, have a great Rebel Random Thoughts Tuesday and come back tomorrow for more cutie pie photos.
