Blizzard Bloghopping on a Thursday

Well, hello, and welcome to all the bloghoppers! For those of you who don't know, Ann Marie of  Household Diva 6 is a brilliant blogger who thought it would be nice for those of us uncool enough to go not going to Blissdom should have our own little meet and greet.  Isn't she darling?  Yes, yes she is.

Anyhoo, the bloghop is to introduce yourself to other bloggers and get to meet them in return.

So, let me introduce myself.  Hello, I'm known in blogland as Mom in High Heels (which can lead to some pervy people showing up on my blog-I can see what you're searching for!) and I'm a military spouse to James Bond.  We are currently living in Germany (for the 3rd time) and have been married for almost 16 years.  Good heavens that makes me feel old.  Though to tell the truth I was positively an infant when we married.  If I keep telling myself that I might begin to believe it.  I'm also a home schooling mom (you can find a link to the hs blog over there somewhere >>>>) to the super awesome Indy (age 8).  He loves all things history and plans to be an archaeologist/paleontologist/Egyptologist/Indiana Jones when he grows up.  Every day is an adventure with that boy.  He gives me loads of blog fodder and I thank him for it.  We are also expecting Han Solo to join our family in April, though if he's anything like Indy, he'll be along in March.  Han Solo was a BIG surprise, let me tell you.  Being pregnant was NOT in the plans.  Especially at thirty.....seven.  Ah well, just more fodder for the blog, I suppose.
I have a BFA in Theatre Design (cause that's dead useful) and English (almost as useful as the theatre portion of my degree).  I enjoy reading, traveling, decorating (though not so much cleaning), crafting, flea marketing, Edward Cullen and Johnny Depp (call me!) and of course beautiful heels.  Oh, sweet high heels.  How I love thee!  Yes, I'm sure you will eventually send me screaming to a chiropractor with knee, back and ankle pain, but I don't care.  I love you anyway because you make my legs look longer and thinner and isn't that what all women really want?  Yes, yes it is.
I started blogging back in 2008 (it seem sooo long ago!) and find it's often the best way to keep my sanity (I live with BOYS and they can be yucky-I need a girly outlet).  If you're new here, feel free to look in the archives.  I'm sure you'll find something to make you laugh (or shake your head at the insanity of it all).  If you're not new, thanks for coming back.  I {heart} you.  Leave me a comment and let me know you've been here.  I like comments and promise to reciprocate.

5 Reasons My Blog Rocks

After my little pity party yesterday, I got a comment from Amanda over at Serenity Now telling me that I need to join her Why My Blog Rocks party. And she's right, I do. I'm going to toot my own horn and make myself feel better.

1-I live in freaking Europe! I take my readers to castles, museums, old cities, grocery stores, bakeries, and shoe shopping all over Europe. How cool is that? Plus, I do with wit and charm. Just calling it like I see it. Oh, and IKEA! IKEA! Everyone in blogland knows how much I loves me some IKEA. I talk about it all the time and often get some good ideas that I share. IKEA in America looks exactly the ones in the States with the silly names for products (Gorm? Sultan Hagavik? Ektorp? Tullsta?),but everything else is in German. Very confusing. But still FAB-U-LOUS. That alone should bring peeps to my blog. And maybe some sponsorship from IKEA, or at least a 1000 Euro gift card. ;)

2-Um...shoes? Hello? Have you seen my shoes? Yes, I'm sure you have. They're freaking fantastic, aren't they? Yes, they are. I could do a post every day on my shoes, but you know I don't want to get put into a niche.

3-Pocket Indy! Who doesn't love Pocket Indy? Nobody! He was so popular and got so many fan emails asking for more that he got his own blog. Plus, PI gives you interesting tidbits about the places he goes. We can all stand to learn a little something, can't we?

4-Dear So and So, and Random Thoughts Tuesday! They are my 2 favorite days of the week! Dear So and So is great for letting off steam at all the idiots people that have irritated me through the week. And RTT? Fantastic! It's such a relief to get out all the weird little thoughts that pop into my head. Very amusing and very random.

5-My deep and abiding love for Johnny Depp and Edward Cullen/RPattz. Don't worry Johnny, you'll always be number one with me. Edward, if you're reading this, call me. Oh sure, other pretty boys have come along throughout the years, but my love for Johnny has held strong since his days as the spunky, yet troubled, baby-faced Officer Hanson on 21 Jump Street. We've had our ups and downs (like when he kept hooking up with all those Hollywood bimbos and then went and had babies with that French chic) oh and I may have gone and gotten married (Mr. HH knows he drops if Johnny ever comes to the door), but we've always been there for each other. He knows my deep and abiding love for him and he shows me all the time how much he's thinking of me. No, I'm not delusional, thankyouverymuch. Serisouly, Edward, call me. Any time. I love you Johnny!

Wow, I'm pretty freaking fantastic, aren't I? I don't know why anyone would stop following me and why I don't have thousands of followers. I'm awesome. And incredibly humble.

Okay, okay, ego aside, I want to thank Amanda for hosting this and all my readers, followers and commentors. I really appreciate you all. My silly little humble blog is a year and a half old and thanks to it I've made some wonderful friends, several of whom I've actually met IRL. I hope after reading this, you too will go toot your own horn and tell the whole blogisphere how awesome you are and what makes your blog rock.

Good heavens! I forgot! Bloggy awards

Oh dear.  I’m a bad blogger.  Bad, bad, blogger.  I have gotten awards!  Several of them, and forgot to post.    Oh, bad, bad, Mom in High Heels!  I do not mean to be ungrateful, I swear to you I don’t, and I apologize from the bottom of my heart to the lovely bloggers who gave them to me.

I’m sorry and embarrassed to say I can’t remember who gave me these (hiding my head in shame).

Fab_award I’m not feeling fabulous right now.  :(

excellentblog_Shannymar Or excellent.

kreativ_bloggerOr Kreative.  Maybe Kre8iv, but still a bad blogger.

Or even bubbly (though the little shoe is super cute).

But.  BUT!  I do know who gave me this award!  Pan x 8 over at The Insanities of a Stay-At-Home Mom (girl, do I feel you!).

Again, I so apologize to the bloggers who gave me the first awards posts.  I feel that, since I’m a bad blogger, I cannot pass them on, but I promise I do love them.  Thanks to you all.  And big fat bloggy kisses to each and every one of you.  Purely platonic of course.  ;)

Let it snow! And some bloggy love

So yesterday we had our first snowfall of the new year. Woooohooo! We love snow. Indy rolled out of bed, saw the snow on the ground and ran to put on his clothes and tried to run out the door. I stopped him and made him go potty and brush his teeth. I tried to get him to eat breakfast but there was just no time for that. Other kids were already outside playing and he HAD to join them. You know, before the snow melted. Nevermind that it was freezing. Whatever. I grabbed my camera and followed the blur that was Indy. By the time I got outside he was already on the ground, doing this:

In case you're wondering, he's making a snow angel AND catching snowflakes on his tongue. Oooooh, multitasking! That's my boy!

This is my cutie pie neighbor. He turned 1 just a few days before Christmas. He had so many layers of clothing on he could barely move. He loves me BTW (and really, why wouldn't he?). If he sees me in the stairwell and doesn't get to come to me he screams bloody murder. When his mom opens the door to their apartment, he makes a bee line for our door. Seriously, this kid loves me. Isn't he cute?

Indy "flying" in the snow. Still catching snowflakes on his tongue.

At the top of the slide. He had already cleaned the slide with his bum multiple times. He had to change pants 3 times yesterday because they kept getting wet.

At least he stopped himself before he landed in the snow again.

Pretty.

Know what snow makes me think of? Come on, guess....that's right, Edward's icy cold, smooth white skin.

Oh, oh, oh! And I got my very first bloggy award!!!! I'm blushing with pleasure. I feel so special. I want to thank my friends, and my family, my manager, my kindergarten teacher, my typing teacher, my....oh, what? This isn't that kind of award ceremony? Well then, I'll just say many thanks to Self Confessed Lamp Tramp and post my cool bloggy award.

I'm supposed to pass it on and I will, but I'll have to do that tomorrow. Until then, lemonade and bloggy kisses to you all. Oh, and Edward.............
