Random Thoughts Tuesday: Socks, allergies and School House Rock

randomtuesday

Ran-dom! Ran-dom! Ran-dom! <--- That's my "mental audience" cheering me on in my head. What? Don't you have a mental audience? If not, you should totally get one. When dh says something stupid I don't comment, but look to my mental audience and then back at dh. To be fair, dh does the same to me, though his audience doesn't get nearly as many looks as mine. :)

Hunh, that was pretty random. Yay me! On with the regularly scheduled randomeness:

*Can randomness be scheduled? Apparently it can: Tuesdays.

*I cannot wear socks when I sleep. I feel like I'm suffocating. Isn't that weird? I don't breath through my feet! I also have no problem with blankets being on my feet, but socks make me crazy.

*Despite the fact that I know I can't wear socks while I sleep, I wear them to bed almost every night. Craziness! I know! Actually, I put them on because every night I put Vaseline on my feet to keep them soft. I have to put socks onto keep it from getting all over my sheets while it soaks in. My grandmother used to do this for both her hands and feet (she wore light weight cotton gloves to bed!) and had the softest hands. I don't know about her feet, but I'm assuming it worked because it keeps mine soft and pretty. When you wear high heels (especially high heeled sandals) you need pretty feet. I hate when people have that gross cracked skin on their heels. Ick! Get some Vaseline! I wear a light weight low sock (the kind you can wear with sneakers and not see them) and while I'm sure it sounds super sexy (haha!) dh actually likes that I do this, because other wise I would put my "icy feet of death" (his words) on him.

*At some point during the night, I take my socks off. I don't know how, but they are always off and on floor beside the bed when I wake up. WHAT? Do I do this with my hands? Do I do it with my feet? How do they end up on the floor? It is a mystery.

*Today Indy and I studied verbs for grammar. We watched the School House Rock segment about verbs and I've been singing it all day. "to run, to slide, to jump, to LOOOOOO-OOOOVE!" Man, I love SHR. Remember it on Saturday mornings when you were a kid? "As your body grows big-ger, your mind will flow-er. It's great to learn, 'cause knowledge is power!" If you don't own this DVD, you should. Make your kids watch it. I promise they'll love it. Who doesn't love 'Conjunction Junction?' *Allergies suck. A lot.

*My space bar is still sticking so I have to be very observant when I type. Stupidspacebar!Freakingworkalready!!!!!

*Albert Einstein didn't wear socks. Think his feet were sweaty?

*I lost a follower. It makes me so sad. What did I do wrong?

*M says 'Spaghettioes' smell like poor people. Um, what?

*I just watched the Today Show segment on flip flops and the germs that reside on them and now remember WHY I don't own any. GROSS! BTW, I get the Today Show at 1pm (7am in NY) so I watched it while eating. Nice. I'm totally going to go Lysol all my shoes now.

*I had a great session with my trainer today. She complimented me WITHOUT a backhand! She said I looked trimmer. It's true. I do. There is much less top to the muffin when I put my pants on. Too much info?

*And finally, I'd like to thank our Canadian friends for this little bit of humor. It is awesome. North Vancouver, you rawk!

Canadians are great aren't they!

I feel the same way about socks but when I was in college I slept in socks every night. Why? because there was no way I was walking barefoot down the hall of the sorority house to the sleeping porch. Eew! I also wore shoes in the shower when I lived there! I have major feet issues!

Great randomness.
I do the Vaseline and socks thing too and I try to do the hands thing some in the winter. I'm with you...why have hot shoes when you have nasty feet?
And congrats on your diminishing muffin top...I just hide mine with one of those muffin top camis.

I laughed out loud in the office reading the dog sign - brilliant!
And I know exactly what you mean about socks in bed but I guess it's because you let a lot of body heat out that way so if you're wearing socks your body can't cool down and you feel hot and bothered. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

I know what you mean about sleeping in socks. I put lotion on my feet in the morning before I put socks on.

The spaghettios comment had me laughing!!! It DOES suck to lose a Follower. Funny sign. :)

LOL at the Spaghettios comment!

I have taken to sleeping with ice packs on my feet this summer. They just get too hot when left to their own devices. I was thinking of inventing some kind of ice-pack bed socks, so I can keep my feet cool AND soft. I need to get on that...

I just LOVE Schoolhouse Rock, and I think it is sooo kewl you are using it to teach yer youngin'.

Now I'll be signing my favorite all day long. "And now we pull down, on the lever, cast a ballot, and we endeavor to improve our country, state, county, town and schools. Yes the 19th Amendment stuck down that restrictive rule!"

I also cannot wear socks while sleeping. It really bothers me.

I can't wear socks either even if my feet are freezing in the winter time.

I loved School House rock as a kid! Thanks a lot though. Now I'll be singing as many of the ditties as I can remember all day today.

M needs to stop sniffing the homeless, it's impolite...

I do the same thing with socks. I almost want to make PB stay up to find out how they come off!

I can absolutely not sleep with socks on at night. For some reason I can nap with them on, weird. Can't sleep in pants either because they end up by my knees

I LOVED schoolhouse rock! I cannot even sleep with covers on. The dog sign was hysterical! Your RTT is always very random, also!

Some nights I have to put little socks on to go to sleep. In the night they come off. Never all night.

That Today show segment about flipflops and germs! I could not watch it! I wear FF's all the time in the summer!

Ha. We've got those signs in Richmond too (south of Vancouver), never thought to post one though.

I feel the same way about socks...can't stand to wear them to bed. Actually, I can't stand to wear them most of the time. If I have shoes on, fine. But once I take my shoes off, the socks soon follow.

I may have to try the Vaseline trick though. I usually just get a pedicure and have them scrape all the yucky, crusty stuff off.

Sorry about the double comment! My computer was acting up!

Very funny! I hate wearing socks to bed too! But I also hate the feeling of anything slimy (vaseline) on my feet! So I have the nasty cracked heels you are referring to in your post!
I do know that Vaseline does work. My father's grandmother has a friend who puts vaseline on her face every night before bed. She is 80 and doesn't have a wrinkle! It is amazing.

I think I found the inches you lost!

Also, when I was a kid, we didn't have tv. we did have electricity. tv came when I was about 12.

look for me in the dictionary under ancient.

just stopping by from SITS to say hi; hope you'll do the same.

I found you via Sassy Chica and wanted to say hi.

My socks magically come off my feet during the night too, so I stopped wearing socks. Now that I don't wear socks to sleep, some other piece of clothing magically come off. Last night it was my boxer shorts, the night before that it was my panties. What am I doing while I sleep. I wonder what would happen if I went to sleep naked. Would I start undressing my husband?

And the dog sign is great.

Adding you to my reader!

I have an audience in my head too... they all want me to open a can of spagettios and smell it now.

Stopping by from SITS... Yea, not a great fan of the flip flop either, and that's before I even thought of the whole germ thing. School is about to start in our house soon, and I've been searching for something to spice up our grammar/language arts curriculum, and SHR sounds like the perfect fit for my rock-star-to-be, so thanks a bunch for sharing!
